Gluten Free Diet And Calcium Sup

I was curious…i was at a local Gluten Free meeting last night (about 12 moms) and not one used a calcium sup. We use the powder from kirkmans and one mom said that their DAN doc said not to use that..I can understand that some kids might have too much calcium in system but it seems odd that none use it. What about you guys?Who uses a calcium sup and if so which one- or why not XYZ? Feel free give me your comments.

Homeopathy

Does anyone else here use homeopathy? I have been using it with Sam for quite awhile before we figured out he was Autistic. My ND told me that it has been used recently with a lot of success for ASD. I should be getting more info. on this so if anyone is interested, let me know.

My son has had Theridian, Tuberculinum, and Tarentula.

PS. I also want to extend my deepest gratitude for everyone who uses this website. It has already made a remarkable difference in our lives.

Question About Food Obsession

My son just went to a birthday party where we let him have a piece of cake, but gave it along with AFP Peptizde enzyme. He longer shows an intolerance for wheat or eggs after a year on the diet and moderate for milk. He kept going back for more even after I told him not to. He went 3 times and got a piece, which I took from him, and we left when I saw him licking the icing on the cake! He acts similar to this when he has Sprite. He gets very hyper with that, but the cake made him seem like an addict. We limit both of these, but I was wondering if any one thought these cravings might be an intolerance of something in it.

The Test

Just returned from a DAN doctor and he is recommending stool analysis, nutritional analysis from spectra labs (I think, almost 400$) and a metals antibody test ($400). I do have a BCBS PPO and was hoping to do more of the tests from great plains as they direct bill. Any thoughts on additional tests or alternate tests from great plains instead of spectra labs and/or immunoscience labs. Anyone do the full autism panel of ab tests (very expensive 1200$)?? Are these tests really necessary? We are willing to find the money to help our son,but don’t want to do a bunch of tests if they are not needed.

I have ordered some test kits from great plains lab, mercury in the blood, neutro antibodies and stool analysis, hoping insurance will pay.

Also, where do you buy calcium supplements? I bought culturelle for probiotics and wasn’t sure what dosage to start with? Or should I wait for the stool tests to come back?

Any thoughts would be great and thanks!

Beginning of Gluten Free Lifestyle

My son is Autistic and we have just began the gfcf diet. It’s been 2 1/2 weeks and so far we are doing OK.I can see that it will get harder as we go on. Once he will eat more food. What I’m struggling with at this point is the hidden gluten and casein in packaged foods. If any of you know of a site or a list I can found of acceptable foods that would be great. I have an unacceptable list. I’m looking for things I can buy in a regular supermarket. I came from a very small town. The nearest health food store is 40 miles away. (and it’s not a very good one.) I would appreciate any help I could get. It’s nice to know that there are 1000’s of us out there trying to accomplish the same goal.
